GENERAL GUIDELINES

Please download the entry form and submit the highest quality dub possible of your piece. If we can't watch it because of tracking problems or other media-related difficulties, then your work will not be picked for exhibition. The entry from must be submitted with your work via mail or email it to: submissions@underneathcincinnati.org

If you wish to have your media returned, you will need to include the proper postage and a mailing container with your submission.

FINAL ENTRY GUIDELINES

We prefer to entries on DVD or on a VCD as a .mov or .mp4. Tape must be recorded in Mini DV or NTSC VHS.
Use SP recording mode on your tape.
The first 5 seconds of the tape should contain bars and tone.
5 seconds of black should appear after the bars and tone. If you include more than one piece on your entry, you should also put 5 seconds of black in between each piece.

FINAL FILE GUIDELINES

Only Quicktime (.mov or .mp4) files will be accepted.
DV encoding is preferred, but a higher quality codec (i.e. h264, Sorensen 3-4, MPEG 1-4) is acceptable.
The file(s) must conform to NTSC broadcast specifications (at least 640x480 @ 30fps/29.97).
The file(s) must be provided on either a DVD-R or a CD-ROM (Macintosh or PC format).

35MM, 16MM and 8MM FILMS: We regret that we no longer can support film entries.

JUDGING AND ACCEPTANCE PROCEDURES

Tri-annual submissions will be screened by a committee selected by SOFA. At the screenings, filmmakers get one free admission to the screening. Ballots are handed out to the audience members and the top two films are selected for the yearly "Best of Underneath" event. Additionally, 4-6 films that were not chosen for Audience Choice will be seleceted by the judges for the annual "Best of Underneath" event.
